Obscura-2 is a low-cost video scrambling system designed to protect wireless video surveillance transmissions from casual interception.
Obscura-2 utilises static line cut and rotate video scrambling offering a high level of picture concealment coupled with excellent link compatibility. To enhance security, the cut point sequence used is randomly changed each time the system is powered up.
Obscura-2 is extremely simple to install. The encoder is inserted into the video path to the transmitter whilst the decoder is connected to the output of the receiver. Only a DC supply of 7 to 32 volts is then required to operate the system. Obscura is also suitable for long term battery operation, drawing less than 50 mA from a 12 volt supply.
Each Obscura-2 video scrambling unit includes two scrambling keys. An internal group key, allocated in the factory, and a second user key that is set by four hex switches on the side of the unit. Only if both the encoder and decoder group and user keys match will the system be able to descramble the transmission.
The Obscura-2 video scrambling system is ideal for safeguarding wireless video security links from reception by scanners and other microwave video receivers.
